In 1924, the Cecil Hotel was built in Los Angeles as a stay for weary travelers, then 5 years later those dreams fell along with the stock market at the start of the Great Depression. Not only did the hotel never fully recover, it also became the site of many suicides and mysterious, unsolved murders. One of those mysterious deaths, Elisa Lam, in 2013 put the hotel on the worldwide map.
