Jesus, who chose to live as a poor man, gave us the example of how to live as aliens on this earth. The Apostles embraced that same calling and chose to be regarded as, "the scum of the earth". The early Church followed the example of both, which resulted in choosing to, "sell their possessions and belongings" in order to gain more of Christ. But somewhere along the timeline of Christendom, we have dismissed the example of Jesus, His Apostles, and the early Church, and ventured into carving out our own path which says we can have the best of Jesus without having to actually live like Him. But according to Him, that isn't following Him at all (Luke 9:23-24). For a true Christian, one who seeks to live out the Christ-like life, is a soldier of a different realm, a Heavenly Kingdom, and understands that the civilian life is irreconcilable with the cross of Jesus. And in this segment, we not only detail how Christians should steward earthly wealth as according to His Word, but we also uncork some personal past failures that show the utmost importance of giving as He gave towards the work of God!
