Several studies have found that the closer we are to someone the more we trust, admire, and give that person credibility in our minds.
For example, research shows that most people feel politicians are corrupt.
However, those same people often don’t believe their own politicians are corrupt.
Human beings have a bias against people relative to their proximity to us and we need to keep that in mind because it taints our view of others.
The result is that we miss warning signals from those close to us and tend to vilify people who are distant to us.
