Saul reigned for many years as Israel's first king long after God had declared his rule and reign for naught. He was eaten up by his pride and fear even as God gave him time to repent. In contrast, the humility of David, which developed in the daily grind of seemingly insignificant tasks, prepared David for the hand of God. David's time in the wilderness with the sheep as a young boy was God time. How intentionally are you preparing your soul today for the amazing and surprising from God?
